Grace Home-where grace is found and hope is restored
The Lord began Grace Home with a small church and their leaders. They all had such a desire to be a part of helping young women who found themselves alone and pregnant and without any options to continue their pregnancies so the questions became, “How?” and “What can we do?” As their hearts’ desire to help grew, many members of the church began to look at the possibility of taking young women into their own homes. They wanted to provide a home, a family and support. As is often the case, when we are willing to step out of our comfort zones and be obedient, the Lord takes those willing hearts and does more than we dreamed.
As the members of the church researched what was needed to take care of the young women in their homes, the Lord put them in contact with established maternity homes across the nation. In working with the other homes the church began to feel the Lord directing them to consider building a home in our area. As they pursued their options the Lord provided funding, generous donations and the people He wanted to be a part of this ministry. Our home opened on May 9th of 2015. Unfortunately we were hit by a tornado two weeks later on May 23rd and our home was destroyed but all in the home were okay. We moved into a temporary location and opened once again in the fall of 2015.
After settling into our temporary home we welcomed our first resident, Katelyn, in second half of 2015. After being at Grace Home and being a part of local church she realized that she needed a relationship with Christ. She was baptized late in 2015. She took online college courses and learned a variety of skills. In the spring of 2016, she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. She is successfully on her own and now continuing her education.
After being at Grace Home Katelyn said, “If you would have asked me a year ago where I thought I would be today, I would have probably said I have no idea but I’ll probably be miserable. That statement couldn’t be more wrong though. I am the opposite of miserable! I absolutely love the life I live and I have so much appreciation to Grace Home and all the wonderful people I met through living there. I could not have gotten to where I am today without finding God. Ultimately I was saved by grace and I never want to know what my life would have been like if I had not given my heart to the Lord. ‘I want to share one of my favorite verses that I believe speaks for itself. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2nd Corinthians 5:17′”
Today we have a beautiful 6 bedroom home that provides a lovely place for women to live. We function as a family with house parents who live on site and invest in the lives of the residents. We provide shelter, medical care as well as all kinds of educational opportunities: school, life-skills, parenting discipleship, etc. Lives are being changed. Cycles are being broken. Grace is being found. Hope is being restored.
